An MF (Metal Frame) ceiling system is a simple and effective installation method for commercial and domestic applications. Highly adaptable, these ceiling systems can be tailored to any sized space and aims to provide a clean finish in any room.

If you are unsure on how to install your own MF ceiling system, be sure to check out our blog in the knowledge centre for more information:

This guide lists everything you’ll need to install your MF ceiling system – all available at great prices here at Fastbuild.

Metal Components Needed For Installing an MF Ceiling System

MF5 (Top Hat) Furring Section

The MF5 section, also known as a “Top Hat”, is made from rolled steel and is a significant component of an MF ceiling system. The MF5 is installed perpendicular to the primary channel (MF7) and generally installed at 400mm centres.

MF7 Primary Channel

The MF7 Primary Channel is a galvanised steel section used as a central cross-section of the MF Ceiling system. This component creates the main framework of the suspended ceilings and is installed perpendicular to the MF5 (Top Hat) Furring Section.

MF6A Perimeter Channel

The MF6A Ceiling Perimeter is an edge trim that provides a robust foundation for the MF ceiling system. The strong wall trim forms the perimeter for the system against the walls, heavily supporting the MF5 furring ceiling section.

MF9 Furring Channel Clips

The MF9 Furring Channel clip is a preformed clip explicitly used to connect the MF5 Ceiling sections and the MF7 Primary support channels to create the metal framing (MF) systems.

Steel Angle

The steel angle provides robust suspension to the MF ceiling system. The steel angles create hangars connecting soffit fixings to the MF7 grid.

Wafer Head Self-Drilling Drywall Screws

Drywall screws with wafer heads are designed for endurance and performance. These screws are designed for fitting dry linings to steel framework without causing damage to the fixture surface.

Acoustic Hangers

Acoustic hangers are used in conjunction with the MF ceiling system for increased sound insulation in commercial and domestic buildings.

Angle Fixing Bracket

Angle fixing brackets are small pieces of metal that provide a secure joint and connects steel angles to the soffit. The brackets have holes on both sides for an easy way to secure various metal components.
