Masonry drill bits and chisels are specifically designed for the unique challenges of extremely hard materials such as brick, mortar and concrete. The majority of them are SDS bits designed to work with rotary hammer drills, which not only drill but also punch the bits into the surface. This combination of rotating and hammering allows the extremely tough masonry drill bits to effectively pulverise the masonry, creating the hole required.

Extra Long Masonry Drill Bits

Masonry drill bits are uniquely designed for the task of drilling holes into extremely hard surfaces like brick and concrete. Beyond often being designed for use with rotary hammer drills, they are also made with hardened steel and have a heat-treated end (usually made of tungsten carbide) that protects them from the high temperatures caused by drilling.
