Insulated DPC for Extensions & More
Damp-proof course (DPC) provides an important barrier around masonry structures to protect them from moisture. Regular DPC is inserted into a wall horizontally to protect against rising moisture from below, but there are times when you need to protect from water moving horizontally, which requires vertical DPC.
Vertical DPC is often used around cavity walls or extensions whenever moisture could travel internally or get stuck in a cavity, which can cause issues such as condensation, damp and mould growth. Vertical DPC provides a waterproof barrier which stops this water ingress, helping protect the building’s long-term performance.
Insulated DPC is specifically designed to not only stop water ingress but also protect against cold bridging – areas in the building where heat can easily escape. Insulated vertical DPC is regularly installed around fixtures such as doors and windows where cold bridging often occurs, helping to minimise heat loss and improve a building’s energy efficiency.
