Cavity wall ties supply a strong connection between the adjoining wall layers and brick ties that can securely link the two adjacent wythes in a double-leaf or collar-joint wall. 

Type 2 wall ties are to be used for masonry-to-masonry walls with a maximum height of 15 metres. They can be used for flat slights at a maximum altitude of 150 metres above sea level and are suitable for normal wind speeds of up to 31m/s.

The most common wall ties are type 4 wall ties. They are often referred to as light-duty wall ties and are ideal for use in residential buildings and extensions. They can be used in buildings with a maximum height of 10m in properties no higher than 150m above sea level. The wind speed of the location of the property is recommended to be no more than a basic wind speed of up to 27m/s.

The type 6 wall tie is designed for use within timber frame buildings and is the most popular type of wall tie. They can be used in commercial and domestic settings with a maximum height of 15 metres and a minimum wind speed of 25m/s.
